“Why don’t you write a blog about cars? You talk about them all the time….”
My wife said this to me as we were driving home from holiday shopping not long before Christmas of 2018 right after I interrupted the our conversation with a comment about some car I just spotted. The conversation I just derailed was centered on how I was going to spend my free time following my recent retirement as a senior officer in the military reserves. The idea was a bit of a revelation. In my professional life I’ve had to develop writing skills, so why not apply them to something fun? The idea stuck, so here we are.
So what exactly will you find here? For now, postings will center around three things:
- Cars. Anything and everything about cars. Slow, fast, cheap, expensive, ugly, beautiful…doesn’t matter. I love cars in every form and there are endless things to talk about.
- Auto Racing. Right now I mostly follow endurance sports car racing of Weathertech’s Sports Car Championship and the World Endurance Championship (which includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans). However, other series like World Rally Champoinship, Formula 1, or even Indy Car Racing might be discussed. I also dabble in SCCA Solo Autocross and high performance driving Events (HPDE), so expect to see posts discussing those events too.
- Auto Detailing. As a rabid car enthusiast, I find a strange pleasure in keeping my vehicles spotless and looking their best regardless of age or value. My intent is to pass along tips the average car owner can use, provide product reviews, and document work performed on my own vehicles.
Every attempt will be made to keep things fun, lighthearted, interesting, and family-friendly while incorporating my sense of humor which includes a healthy dose of sarcasm and snark. The world around us is a grim place, so the intent is for this blog to provide readers a lighthearted place to experience a brief escape from the world and celebrate all things automotive.
This is my first attempt at blogging, so expect the site to steadily get better and change over time. I’ll be experimenting with themes, content format, and improving my photography (time to pull out the SLR and quit taking cell phone pictures); all in an effort to improve the reader experience.
I still have a family and a career away from this blog, so there won’t be a large amount of content being posted, but my intentions are to post a steady flow of a articles, so please check back frequently to see what’s new. I’ve few good topics queued up, so things should be off to a good start.
The comment section is open and will be monitored. Please feel free to use it and make this a place for conversations regarding the topic at hand, just keep it objective, avoid using non-family friendly language, and don’t personally attack other people leaving comments. I’ll join the conversation as much as possible to answer questions or simply chat with everyone.
Thanks for reading, and let’s see where the road takes us!
When someone writes an article he/she keeps the idea of a user in his/her brain that how a user can be aware of it. So that’s why this paragraph is perfect. Thanks!| а
Love watching your you tube videos! I was wondering if you have a suggestion for cleaning/repair of plastic “wood grain” that was damaged by hand sanitizer. It was like it melted it!
Hey, sorry for such a slow reply. Never saw this one come in!
I don’t have a channel on YouTube, there is someone called The Detail Geek. The names are pretty similar.
Diagnosing the problem with your trim will be difficult without any pictures. By the sounds of things the hand sanitizer may have etched the surface of the trim. You may be able to give it a light polish with a plastic polish to see if it helps any. I’d start with a tiny amount of polish and very carefully try it on a very small spot of the damaged area. If that doesn’t help, the surface may be damaged beyond repair and you’ll have to replace the trim piece.
